Phase 3 ICT BLC Challenge is ON!!!
by Mrs H Gardener (Staff) - Tuesday, 28 February 2012, 08:09 PM

The phase 3 ICT challenge is now underway!

Students should have already been given the information by their ICT teacher, this year the challenge is to use the Google Sites feature and set up your own website that shares how you use ICT both at home and at school!!

Parents/carers can help by encouraging students to think about their literacy skills when writing on their websites as their work will be viewable by the whole school! The deadline for completion is Friday 30th March 2012.

Any questions or concerns should be directed to your child's ICT teacher.
ENJOY!!

The BAFTA Young Game Designers competition
by Mr R Alsop (Staff) - Tuesday, 20 September 2011, 09:11 PM

The BAFTA Young Game Designers competition invites teams of young people aged 11-16 to submit a design for a new video game, helping them to learn about the different roles within video games design and understand the value of key subject areas for entry into the industry. A panel of games professionals and celebrity gamers judge the entries, and the winning team will be announced at BAFTA's Children's Awards in November.

BAFTA is partnering with EA, the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (NESTA), and Abertay University for the competition. The winning team will receive a prize package that includes a BAFTA Young Game Designers Award; work experience at Bright Light, an EA games studio; and a prototype of the winning game developed with Abertay University.

A competition flyer is attached, which you might wish to copy and share with your colleagues and students. There is further information for teachers, including lesson plans and worksheets, on the competition website:www.bafta.org/ygd. If you have any other questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact 'BAFTA Young Game Designers' at ygd@bafta.org or BAFTA, 195 Piccadilly, London W1J 9LN
